About us

The SUSA Society became a full society in 2021. Before that, the group was known as the Speaking Up Self-Advocacy Awareness Group.

We work to create opportunities for advocacy awareness. We give rights presentations, offer workshops, and create social events.

Our Society is made up of people with diverse abilities. Everyone can contribute and has something to offer.

Mission

Our mission is to create opportunities for increased community awareness about diverseabilities*. We work to ensure the inclusion of people with diverseabilities in all areas of the community. We provide educational opportunities for self-advocacy, self-determination and rights awareness for people with diverseabilities. We assist community members with diverseabilities for opportunities to connect with other self-advocates. We promote community understanding, awareness, and inclusion.

*Diverseabilities is a term that has been chosen by many people with disabilities as part of their person- first language .

“Nothing about us without us.”
